Baldcypress trees grow to tremendous sizes and occur naturally within the Atlantic Coastal Plain and the drainages of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers.  Baldcypress timber and lumber is abundant and sees ready use as paneling, siding, cabinetry, decking, and timber frame timbers.  We use Baldcypress timbers for exterior timber frames because it is rot resistant, weathers naturally to a silvery gray, and accepts paint or stain well. Baldcypress timbers are readily available, are reasonably priced, and are available in the large sizes we need. The wood cuts cleanly and surface treatments such as sand blasting yield interesting surface textures.
